2600 Series
The workhorse of the Farris line
API 526 full-nozzle process relief valve.
- Holding closed: Below set pressure, the spring holds the disc down on the nozzle seat and the vessel runs normally.
- Pressure climbs: An upset drives vessel pressure up toward the valve's set point, anywhere from 15 to 6,000 psig.
- Valve lifts: At set pressure the force on the disc beats the spring. The disc lifts and the excess discharges to a safe location.
- Reseats: Once pressure falls back below the reseat point, the spring closes the disc and the vessel stays in service.
